How it works

Explore

The whole multiplication table on 81 keys, 1 × 1 through 9 × 9, or 144 keys if you switch to 12 × 12. Push one down and the answer is underneath. Good for looking something up, or for a kid who is just starting.

Speed run

The board calls a number, like 56. Push a key that makes it. 7 × 8 works, and so does 8 × 7. You get 60 seconds, and your best score is saved for each table.

Streak

No clock. Every right key stays down and the board warms up at 5, 10 and 25 in a row. One wrong key ends the run.

Why this times tables game runs backwards

Looking up 7 × 8 on a chart is quick. Remembering it is the hard part.

So the games flip the question. You get 56 and have to know which key makes it. A number you miss comes back more often until you have it.

Questions

Is the multiplication chart free?

Yes, the multiplication chart is free. There is no account to make, nothing to download and no ads on this page. Your best scores are saved in your own browser, so they stay on your device. Printing the chart, filled in or blank, is free too.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. It was built for a phone first. The 9 by 9 board fits on the screen without scrolling, and the keys push down under your thumb. The 12 by 12 board fits too, with smaller keys, so a tablet or a laptop is easier on the eyes for that one.

Which times tables does it cover?

Up to 12 × 12. The board starts at 9 × 9, the same 81 keys as the toy, and you can switch it to 5 × 5, 10 × 10 or 12 × 12. In the games you can stick to one times table, like the 7s, or play them all.

Can I practice one times table at a time?

Yes. In Speed run and Streak, tap a number under the modes and the board only calls numbers from that times table. Your best score is saved for each table and each board size, so the 7s on a 12 by 12 board have their own record to beat.

Can I print the multiplication chart?

Yes. Scroll down to the printable chart, pick a size from 5 × 5 up to 12 × 12, and print it. You can print it filled in to hang on the wall, or blank so a kid can fill in every answer by hand.
