Hack the Past privacy policy
Last updated October 18, 2026
Short version: there's no account, no analytics and no ad network. Your progress stays on your device, and nothing in the game sends anything to us.
Who this covers
This policy covers the Hack the Past app, made by Pettigrew Lab LLC, on every device it runs on.
What the game stores on your device
The places you've finished and the ways you found, the scraps you've picked up, your battery, your sound setting, whether you've seen the tip about carrying things, when you last saw a break, and whether you bought Remove the breaks.
All of it is saved on your device, inside the app. It isn't sent to us and we can't see it.
On Android, it's included in your device's backup if you have backup turned on, under your Google account. On iPhone and iPad, it's part of your device's own backup if you use one, under your Apple account.
Breaks between places
Now and then, on the way back to the chart, the game shows a card for one of our other games. It's a picture and a line of text that ship inside the app, so nothing is loaded from the internet and nothing about you is collected to show it.
If you tap Get it, the game opens that game's page in the store, and the store's own privacy policy covers what happens there.
Remove the breaks
Remove the breaks is a one-time purchase through Google Play or the App Store. They handle the payment under their own privacy policies, and we never see your card or your store account.
The game keeps a note on your device that you bought it, and checks with the store so Restore purchase works on a new device.
Ratings
After you've finished a few places, the game may ask Google Play or the App Store to show its own rating window. The store decides whether it appears, and anything you write there goes to the store under its own policy, not to us.
What the game doesn't do
There's no account and nothing to sign into, so we don't have your name or your email unless you write to us yourself.
There's no analytics, no crash reporting of our own, no ad network and no tracking. The only outside code that sends anything is the store's own purchase and rating code.
The game doesn't ask for your location, camera, microphone, photos or contacts. The phone in the game is pretend.
Kids
Hack the Past is made for ages 14 and up, and isn't directed at children under 13.
Deleting your data
Uninstall the game or clear its data in your device's settings, and everything it saved is gone. There's nothing on our side to delete, because nothing was sent to us.
If you email us
If you write to the address below, we have your email and whatever you put in the message, and we keep it only as long as it takes to answer you.
If this changes
If a future version collects anything new, for example by showing ads from an ad network, this page is updated before that version ships, and the date at the top changes.
