A cozy card game where you bring a planet back to life

You and Ops are on a small station above a planet made of dust. Build machines to warm it, wet it and grow it, and watch it change in the window.

Warm it. Wet it. Grow it. Don't run out of air.

Not out yet. Coming to Android first, then iPhone and iPad. Free, with nothing to buy and no account.

From dust to bloom in eight days

  1. The planet in the station window: bare, dusty and red

    Day 1/8

    Dust

Dust as far as I can see. Let's warm it up.

  2. The same planet warming up, with glowing vents and smaller ice caps

    Day 3/8

    Warm

Warm it. The ice starts to melt.

Watch your Life Support. It drops every night.

  3. Blue seas and lakes filling the low ground, with thin white clouds

    Day 5/8

    Wet

Wet it. Seas fill the old craters.

    Is that water? That's water!

  4. The planet in bloom: green land, blue seas and white clouds

    Day 8/8

    Moss Bunny

    Bloom

Grow it. Something's living down there.

Look at it. Air you can breathe.

Every card is a machine or money

Each card is something you could build or something you could pay with, never both. Most of the game is deciding which.

Tap the glowing card to build it.

Built. Heat goes up every night from now on.

That's one build. The game has 24 cards, two builds a day and eight days to get it right.

Ops smiling

Ops is on the radio

Ops runs the station with you. He points out what's new, warns you when Life Support is getting low and tells you when the weather is about to turn.

He keeps it short and doesn't explain what he can show you. When the planet blooms, he's the first to say so.

  • Ops grinning with his eyebrows up
  • Ops looking worried
  • Ops thinking it over
  • Ops looking proud
  • Ops wincing
  • Ops serious and calm

Warm, excited, worried, thinking, proud, wincing and grim. You'll see all of them.

Sixty animals to find

Every planet has twelve animals of its own, and every landing shows you three. They turn up as the planet warms, gets wet and grows its air, and each one goes in your field guide.

Questions

What is Dust to Bloom?

A cozy card game for one player. From a small space station, you build machines to warm a dead planet, bring back its water and grow its air, while keeping the station's Life Support running.

How long does a game take?

About five minutes. A run is eight days, and each day is a couple of builds and a tap on End day.

Does it need wifi?

No. It plays fully offline, so it's fine on a plane or in the car.

What does it cost?

It's free, and there's nothing to buy. On Android, between runs now and then, you'll see a short card for one of our other games. Never in the middle of a run, and never in Cadet mode.

Who is it for?

Anyone who likes a calm puzzle, from older kids to grandparents. Cadet mode makes it gentler if you're new to card games, and the later planets still make grown-ups think.
