BotBrain privacy policy

Last updated October 21, 2026

Short version: there’s no account, no chat and no online play, and your robot and progress stay on your phone. The game is free because it shows ads from Google AdMob. Those ads are set up for kids, so they aren’t personalized. Most of this page is about that part.

Who this covers

This policy covers the BotBrain app, made by Pettigrew Lab LLC, on every device it runs on.

What the game stores on your phone

Your robot and its saved builds, its brain, its level, Scrap, crates, parts and upgrades, the campaign, the Daily Drills you’ve solved, your pledges, the paint and gear you picked, your family ladder (the robots you’ve fought from codes and your record against each), a few saved knockouts, your settings, and whether you bought Remove ads.

It also keeps a list of what you did in the game and when: fights, drills, crates. It stays on the phone unless you copy it out yourself.

All of it is saved on your phone, inside the app. It isn’t sent to us and we can’t see it.

On Android it can be part of your device backup if backup is turned on, under your Google account. On iPhone and iPad it’s part of your device’s own backup if you use one, under your Apple account.

Robot codes and sharing

A robot code holds the robot’s name, parts, level and rules. Nothing else. It doesn’t say who you are.

When you tap Send it, or share a knockout clip, your phone’s own share sheet opens and you pick where it goes. The game doesn’t send anything by itself, and we never see what you share.

The camera

The game only asks for the camera when you tap Scan their code. It looks for a robot code in the picture, right on your phone. Nothing it sees is saved, and nothing is sent anywhere.

If you say no, you can still paste a friend’s code instead.

The daily reminder

It’s off until you turn it on in Settings. When it’s on, your phone shows one message a day at the time you picked. The phone schedules it itself. There’s no server sending it, and turning it off cancels it.

Ads

BotBrain shows ads from Google AdMob. You see one between fights at most, never after your first couple of fights, and no more than one every four minutes. There are no banner ads, and no ads during a fight, a Daily Drill or the first-time tour.

BotBrain tells AdMob it’s made for kids. That means the ads aren’t personalized to you and are limited to ones rated for everyone. The game never asks to track you.

To show the ad, count it and catch ad fraud, AdMob still collects some information about the device. That includes device identifiers, an approximate location worked out from your IP address, how you interact with the ad, and diagnostic information about how it performed. In Google Play’s Data safety section, those are listed as device or other IDs, approximate location, app interactions and diagnostics.

Google handles that data under its own privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy. We don’t get a copy of it, and we can’t tie it to you.

Remove ads

Remove ads is a one-time purchase through Google Play or the App Store. They handle the payment under their own privacy policies, and we never see your card or your store account.

The game keeps a note on your phone that you bought it, and checks with the store so Restore purchase works on a new phone.

What the game doesn’t do

There’s no account and nothing to sign into, so we don’t have your name or your email unless you write to us yourself.

There’s no chat and no online play. Robots only travel as codes that you choose to share.

There’s no analytics, no crash reporting of our own and no tracking by us. The only outside code that sends anything is AdMob, and the store’s own purchase code.

The game doesn’t ask for your location, microphone, photos or contacts.

Kids

BotBrain is made for kids 10 to 14, and families play it together. We don’t collect personal information from anyone, kids under 13 included. The only data that leaves the phone is what AdMob needs to show a kid-safe ad, described above.

Deleting your data

Settings, Start over wipes your robot and progress. Uninstalling the game, or clearing its data in your phone’s settings, removes everything it saved. There’s nothing on our side to delete, because nothing was sent to us.

For the data AdMob collected, use Google’s controls at myadcenter.google.com.

If you email us

If you write to the address below, we have your email and whatever you put in the message, and we keep it only as long as it takes to answer you.

If this changes

If a future version collects anything new, this page is updated before that version ships, and the date at the top changes.
