How Computers Work

Privacy

Last updated October 3, 2026

The short version: the How Computers Work app collects nothing about you. There’s no account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and the app doesn’t connect to the internet at all.

What the app stores

Your progress, your Talk Cards, your settings and whether you’ve unlocked the full course. All of it is stored on your device and nowhere else. We can’t see it.

What the app sends

Nothing. The app makes no network requests. It works the same in airplane mode.

Buying the unlock

The one-time unlock is handled entirely by the App Store or Google Play. They process the payment under their own privacy policies. The app only learns whether the unlock was bought, so it can open the rest of the course.

Children

The course is written for high schoolers and works for younger learners with a parent. Because it collects nothing, there’s nothing to collect from a child either.

Deleting your data

Use Start over in the Me tab, or delete the app. Either one removes everything it stored.

This website

This page, and the free toys on pettigrewlab.com, are covered by the Pettigrew Lab site’s own privacy practices. The toys run in your browser and don’t send what you do anywhere.
