Hide & Heel support
Hide & Heel is made by one family, and the email below reaches a person who can actually change the app. Most questions have turned out to be one of the five below.
The app says a pair is due and I know it isn’t
Open the pair and tap Conditioned, then set the date to the day you last did it. That one entry does two things: it resets the reading to full, and it moves that pair’s own rate toward what you actually saw.
Two or three corrections is usually all it takes. If a pair keeps coming due far too early, check that its leather is set right. A finished hide set as veg tan will always run ahead.
The humidity reading looks wrong
Not every phone has a humidity sensor, and the ones that do read the air right next to a warm phone, which runs dry. In Settings, turn the sensor off and type in a number for the room your leather lives in instead. A closet in a heated house in winter is usually somewhere in the twenties.
Getting your collection onto a new phone
Settings, then Export, writes the whole collection to a single file including photos, dates and every service you have logged. Send it to yourself however you like, then Import it on the new phone.
There is no cloud backup, on purpose, so the export is the backup. It is worth doing once a year.
Notifications never arrive
They are local notifications, so they do not need a network, but they do need permission. Check that notifications are allowed for Hide & Heel in your phone’s settings, and that battery optimisation is not putting the app to sleep, which on some Android phones is a separate switch from the notification one.
Refunds
Refunds go through Google Play or the App Store, whichever you bought it from, under their own policies. Email first if you like. If the app did not do what this page said it would, tell me what happened, because that is a bug report worth more than the ninety nine cents.
