Who this covers

This policy covers the Hide & Heel app, made by Pettigrew Lab LLC, on every device it runs on.

What the app stores

The things you type in about your own leather: what each item is, what it is made of, what the sole is built on, the dates you conditioned, waterproofed or had it resoled, any notes you add, and any photos you attach.

Alongside that, the numbers the app works from: how often you say you wear each item, the humidity figure it is using, and the rate it has learned for that item from your own corrections.

All of it is written to storage on your device, inside the app. None of it is sent to us or to anyone else, and we cannot see it.

What the app does not do

There is no account and nothing to sign into, so we do not have your name or your email.

There are no ads, no analytics, no crash reporting, no tracking and no third party code in the app that reports on anyone.

The app makes no network calls. It does not ask for the internet permission on Android, which means the claim is enforced by the operating system rather than by our good intentions.

Humidity and location

Where your phone has a humidity sensor, the app reads it directly. That reading is a percentage of the air in the room, it is used only to work out how fast leather dries, and it is never sent anywhere.

The app never asks for your location and never uses it. Weather services are the ordinary way an app gets humidity, and they need a place to look it up, so this one does not use them. If your phone has no sensor, you type a number in instead.

Photos

If you attach a photo of an item, the app copies it into its own storage on the device. It does not read the rest of your camera roll, and a photo you attach goes nowhere except into the app’s own list.

Photos taken on a phone often carry the place they were taken inside the file. The app never reads that, never displays it, and strips it from the copy it keeps.

Exporting and sharing

Export writes your whole collection to a single file and hands it to your phone’s share sheet. Where it goes from there is your choice, and the app takes no part in it.

Buying the app

When it is out, you will buy Hide & Heel once through Google Play or the App Store. They handle the payment under their own privacy policies, and we never see your card details or your store account.

Children

Hide & Heel is a tool for people who keep leather, not a product aimed at children. It collects no personal information from anyone, so it collects none from children either.

Deleting your data

Delete an item and it is gone, photo included. Settings has a clear everything button that wipes the collection in one go, and deleting the app deletes all of it. There is nothing on our side to delete, because nothing was ever sent to us.

If this changes

If a future version ever sends data anywhere, this page is updated before that version ships, and the date at the top changes with it.
